The Club shall be known as The Nutley Social Club having premises at High Street, Nutley, East Sussex, TN22 3NE.
The Club Bar can be opened during normal licensing hours.
Management of the Club shall be invested in the hands of a General Committee.
The General Committee shall comprise of a maximum of 11 persons, including Chairman, Vice Chairman, Hon. Secretary, Hon Treasurer the remaining numbers being ordinary Club Members are elected to serve.
The Club Members present at the Annual General Meeting shall elect the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon Treasurer, Hon Secretary and ordinary Members of the General Committee.
The General Committee shall exercise the powers given to it under these Rules and shall manage the entire running of the Club.
The Club Rules may only be made, varied or revoked by a two-thirds majority of Members voting at a General Meeting of all Members.
Membership shall be open to all men and women over the age of fifteen years.
Subscriptions shall be as passed by the Annual General Meeting each year.
No person is a Member of the Club unless the proposal for his/her membership has been received in writing and accepted by the General Committee, and has paid his/her subscription. The names and addresses of proposals or new membership must be exhibited on the Club notice board for at Least 48 hours before the General Committee considers the application for membership.
There shall be kept on the Club premises a register of the names and addresses of Members showing a record of the latest payments of their subscriptions.
If a member is four weeks in arrears with subscription without good cause and/or does not notify the Committee of the reason, his/her name shall be removed from the Membership Register and he/she shall cease to take part in any part of the activities of the Club. He/She shall also forfeit any rights in the property of the Club. The General Committee shall have powers to reinstate any such Member providing subscription arrears are paid in full.
Members using Club equipment shall be held responsible for this to the General Committee.
No-one under the age of 15 (fifteen) years is allowed to play on the billiard table or Gaming Machine. Any Member found aiding or abetting any-one under 15 years to play on the billiard table or Gaming Machine may be suspended from the Membership for a period not exceeding three months.
Every Member introducing a guest or guests (two) must on every occasion enter his/her or their name(s) and address(es) in the book provided for this purpose and pay the visitors fees. The Member must also sign his/her own name opposite the name of guest or guests introduced. No person shall be introduced into the Club as a guest more than six times in any year.
Guests may make a purchase of intoxicating liquor at the Club bar whilst accompanied by their introducing Member.
No one can purchase or attempt to purchase intoxicating liquor under the age of 18 years.
Intoxicating liquor shall not be sold for consumption off the premises, except to a Member for his or her own consumption.
The meeting of the General Committee shall be called once a month. Additional Meetings may be called by The Hon. Secretary and shall be called by him if requested by the Chairman or any two Members of the Committee.
Six Members of the General Committee shall form a quorum.
Every Member of the General Committee shall have one vote on every occasion, and in the case of equality, the Chairman or other Member proceeding at such a meeting shall have a second or casting vote
The Hon. Secretary of the General Committee shall keep Minutes of the proceedings of each Meeting, which shall be read and confirmed at the next Meeting.
The General Committee may appoint Sub-Committees Appointed SubC ommittees must seek approval from the General Committee on any financial matter including capital expenditure..
The Hon. Treasurer shall cause an account of all purchases and receipts to be kept, and shall at every Annual Meeting of the Club resent a report and an audited financial statement for the preceding year. The Hon. Treasurer shall also cause to be prepared a statement in order that certain sums of money are paid as Excise Duty under the Finance Act or any Act amending it.
Payment made by cheque must bear the signatures of two Members appointed by the General Committee, all monies received for the Club shall be banked at least once a week.
The Hon. Secretary or Hon. Treasurer shall also make any returns required by the present Licensing Act.
Any dispute or difference that may arise as to the meaning or interpretation of these Rules or as to the powers of The Officers or the General Committee shall determine General Committee.
The General-Committee will have the power to allocate capital expenditure to a maximum of £4000.00 per fiscal year. Capital expenditure over and above £4000.00 per year must be approved at an AGM or EGM.
